1. What makes Covid-19 such a deadly virus, lack of vaccine or its sheer ability to multiply rapidly?

To my extreme knowledge and my observation on growth of COVID-19 in past few months, it is actually the lack of correct information and lack of awareness rather than the unavailability of vaccine or its basic structure of virology.

2. What should one eat to boost immunity?

All or any food item rich in anti-oxidants which provides essential nutrients and vitamins like -

  • Citrus fruits like lemon, oranges, pineapple, grapefruit (RDA 75mg- women and 90mg- men); nuts like almonds and walnuts.

  • Broccoli, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, spinach, low fat yogurt and turmeric.

  • Teas like green tea, elderberry tea, herbal kadha infused with basil or mint,

All these should be a part of your daily diet. For non- vegetarians they can include oysters, fish that are high in Zinc. (RDA- 11mg- adult men, 8mg- adult women)

3. Do you notice any difference in the kind of patients that see you now?

Yes, since the excessive spread of COVID-19 diseases and lock down came into action, life almost came to stand still.

In past few months we have seen a significant change in the symptomatically of the patients, their physical affections especially along with mental exaggerations like fears, anxiety, panic and depression. All these have increased significantly.

That’s why it has become the need of an hour to address the importance of mental health in broad and clear terms.

4. Would you advocate designer masks? What’s your take on ‘safety with style’?

The idea and thought behind the designer masks sounds very interesting to me. So basic purpose is to spread a message that yes during this corona times and afterwards in upcoming future it should be one of the basic precautionary or safety equipment to prevent ourselves and people around us from communicable disease spread. This is why it is a must to incorporate masks in our day to day lifestyle.

Talking especially in terms of our country with such a diverse population or even in western world as in pre- corona times, we already witnessed that we always have different outfits/costumes as per the nature of our occupation or culture or occasion or various economic background.

We accessorize those costumes/outfits with various matching accessories like foot wears, head gears, jewellery, handbags, tie and what not. thus from now on in a similar way we need to complete our look and enter the ‘New Normal’ with wearing designer masks as a safety guard which also encourages you to be extra caution.

Simultaneously it will blend with your profession or desired outfit not making it absurd or abnormal in upcoming times. On the other hand it might be beneficial for small scale industries to grow and be beneficial economically to the world.

Lastly, different genders, different age groups, are also need to be looked upon especially the toddlers. They want everything attractive and creative like having their favorite cartoon icon on almost everything they own. So yes, safety with style’ is relevant for all sorts of people.

5. What are the top 3 changes that you would recommend for a healthier lifestyle?

The top 3 changes I recommend would be:

  • 150 minutes of physical exercise weekly, which can include cycling, jogging, aerobics, yoga, dancing, pranayama, stretching along with deep breathing exercise. Practicing meditation for 20 minutes minimum on a regular basis is a must.

  • Drinking at least 2 glasses of lukewarm water empty stomach every morning and sipping as much of water as you can throughout the day (as warm water empty stomach helps to regulate proper blood flow).

  • Taking out 1 hour from your busy schedule and practice your passion or hobby. Spend time with your own self for understanding along with inner self is a must in creating self awareness which will lead to a healthy and peaceful life.
